This museum program, Me & My Community, is designed for grades K-2 and aligns with Wit & Wisdom Kindergarten Module 3: America, Then and Now. Students will explore the roles and responsibilities in their home, school, and town communities, and investigate the differences and similarities in those responsibilities long ago vs. today.
After a brief introduction, students will try out various jobs done in home and town communities. A mix of contemporary and historic images and objects will reinforce with students what has changed and what has stayed the same in the ways people help out in their home and town communities. Students will also determine what a community needs by designing their own town on a floor map.

The educator will need a small desk or table for program materials, as well as an open space (like a classroom rug area) for the map activity. For the hands-on activities,
students will break into four groups and rotate through four stations. Ideally the educator will be able to use desks or tables in the classroom to set up these stations. We
encourage students to wear nametags to help our educators actively engage them in activities.
