This museum program, Perspectives of the Revolution, is designed for Grades 4-5 and aligns with Wit & Wisdom Grade 4 Module 3: The Redcoats are coming!

In this interactive program, students will explore the Revolution through the experiences and perspectives of everyday people in our state, providing a Connecticut focus while also supporting the content, questions, and vocabulary of the Wit & Wisdom module. Two versions of this program will allow teachers to choose the focus that best fits their students, curriculum, and schedule; please note that both versions of this program include close-looking at primary sources, hands-on activities with reproduction objects, and writing with quill pens and ink. When you schedule, please indicate which program option you would like:

*Introduction to the Revolution*
Introduce your class to the causes of the Revolution and the opposing viewpoints held by Connecticans during the lead-up and events of the war. Students will discover what it meant to be a Patriot, a Loyalist, or neutral, and explore the different perspectives that affected how people chose sides. This version is perfect for classes at the beginning of their Revolution unit, or for teachers looking to cover the fundamentals with their students.

*Deep Dive into the Revolution*
What was it like to live in Connecticut during the Revolution? Dive deep into the experiences of real people who lived during this tumultuous time. After a brief overview of the causes and different sides of the conflict, students will explore the perspectives of different individuals, from soldiers on the battlefront to families at home, of European, African, and Indigenous Connecticans, and many more.
