The program is presented in the character of Monsieur Giono who speaks with a strong French accent. He has an engaging persona and audiences are eager to assist him with his English from time to time. His account sensitizes listeners to the severe impacts humans can have on the environment, and come to realize how much an individual can affect positive change. Much is learned about trees, water conservation, and ecological succession. Listeners are also exposed to another language and culture. When the 35-minute story is over, I break character and conclude the program with a moving sing-along/sign-along ode to the beauty and restorative power of nature.
