Leslie Elias- storyteller, theater director, actress and CT Arts Hero will engage 4th grade students in a one hour workshop acting out the story of Persephone- The Greek Goddess of Spring. This Greek myth tells the story of How The Seasons Came to Be. Through music, movement, masks and drama, students will act out this ancient myth enacting the parts of the Greek Gods, Goddesses and the Greek Chorus! Colorul characters such as Cerberus the 3-Headed Dog, Zeus, Apollo, Hades, Demeter and more spring vividly to life! Grumbling Gryphons masks and costumes are made by Ellen Moon and mask artist Robert Flannagan of the Muppets and Broadway , will enhance this hands-on theatrical and interactive experience.

1.Students will engage in active listening to and learning the story of Persephone, a famous Greek myth of How The Seasons Came to Be! 2. Students will learn songs, chants and text from the play 3. Students will act out the story of Persephone through movement, music and dramatic dialogue. Selected Students will be chosen to act out dramatic roles of the Greek Gods & Goddesses and ALL students will take part as the animated Greek Chorus!
