Hold Fast To Dreams: Bringing Poetry to Life and the Stage! Grumbling Gryphons will perform a magical mix of music, merriment, poetry and song! Grumbling Gryphons actors will enact poems by Langston Hughes, Edward Lear, Lewis Carroll, Robert Frost, E. E. Cummings, Emily Dickinson and more, including poetry by children! Live music will be played by award winning musician and composer--Joseph Sobol, a renowned musician and storyteller who will play his own compositions as well as traditional Irish & Celtic music on cittern, guitar, mandolin and banjo, enlivening the performance for all! Costumes and masks are made by Ellen Moon of Cornwall Bridge, Grumbling Gryphons long time mask and costumer! Leslie Elias, Daniel Saed and Natalie Resto will perform in numerous dramatic roles. Under the direction of Ms Elias, the troupe worked collaboratively to create this production!
Director Leslie Elias and winner of 2018 Connecticut Arts Hero Award and her troupe will engage children throughput the performance and have them participate in many of the poems. At the end of the performance of our play, we will lead a follow up discussion with the students to ensure and assess their understanding.
