I can recount a folktale/myth/pourquoi story from Asia. I can watch a play and add sound effects from the audience. I can identify ways in which voice and sounds may be used to create or retell a story in guided drama experiences. I can acknowledge different points of view of characters. I can help choose the right thing to do in a difficult situation. I can work with my peers to listen, imagine, speak, wait and respond to cues.

Act It! Tell It! Sing It! Move It! "Why Rooster Crows at Sunrise, a folktale & story play by your kids. I bring gorgeous costumes and kids act out this stunning tale (under my direction & narration) of the Sun Goddess and her father, the Jade Emperor. He's got a big problem: his daughter is responsible for the life of the world, but its creatures are not caring for her. Should he take her away to be safe with him & let the world die? Or let her be disrespected and keep the world going? What is a parent's first job? Children dressed in feathered hats and/or boas as birds help win the day. (Funny!) Audience kids chant, speak, crow. I've done this hundreds of times & it always works. Literacy, comprehension, narrative structure, culture, character development. Beautiful, funny, wise and heart-stilling. This program is suitable for all ages. The way I address and speak to the children at different developmental levels is key and always works. They love this workshop very much, and teachers do, too. Audience laughs heartily, wonders, and usually becomes hushed with feeling the beauty of the kids in the costumes, speaking with wisdom. Absolute winner over 25 years in all different venues. Lets kids learn the way the actually do: through play.

The more that adults fully commit to taking part in this, sitting with the children, modeling audience behavior, the more effective and joyful the learning experience. The more, the merrier.
