Students transform their ideas into original stories through character design, scriptwriting, storyboarding, animation, and digital media production. Using handmade flipbook techniques and digital capture tools, students learn how movement, expression, and storytelling work together to create engaging animated stories. Throughout the program, students discover that even the simplest shape can become a character with personality, purpose, and a story to tell.

Class 1: Character Design & Animation Warm-Up
Students are introduced to the fundamentals of animation and character creation. Through drawing exercises and animation warm-ups, they explore how simple shapes, lines, and expressions can convey personality and emotion. Students experiment with movement through quick flipbook activities and begin developing original characters that will appear in their stories.

Class 2: Scripting & Storyboarding
Students build on their character ideas by creating original stories. They learn the basic elements of narrative structure, including setting, character motivations, conflict, and resolution. Once their stories are developed, students create storyboards that map out each scene, helping them visualize action, pacing, and key moments before animation begins.

Class 3: Animating Our First Scene
Students begin animating the opening scene of their stories. Using flipbook animation techniques, they focus on creating smooth movement and clear visual storytelling. Lessons emphasize timing, sequencing, and how small changes from frame to frame create the illusion of motion. By the end of class, students will have completed the first major section of their animated story.

Class 4: Animating Our Second Scene
Students continue animating by creating a second scene that expands their narrative and develops their characters. They apply the animation principles learned in previous sessions while refining movement, action, and emotional expression. As students add detail and continuity between scenes, they gain a deeper understanding of how animation supports storytelling.

Class 5: Digital Capture, Edit, & Share
Students digitize their handmade animations using cameras or mobile devices and learn basic editing techniques to assemble their completed stories. They review pacing, transitions, and presentation, making final adjustments before showcasing their work. The program concludes with a sharing session where students present their finished animated projects and reflect on their creative process, storytelling choices, and animation skills.
