Students will learn the elements of storytelling through theater, and learn how to share their own stories through physical movement. Students will learn teamwork and skills through ensemble game building. Deconstruct elements of a story. And use tableaus to transform their stories for the stage.
Five Week Breakdown:
Day 1: Theater games and learning terms, and Introduction to Tableaux and Compositions
Day 2: Parts of Storytelling: identifying who, what and where. Then creating the objective, obstacle and tactics of characters. And the creation of their own stories using the elements of storytelling/Or using an already established story
Day 3: a Table read of short play, learning to identify parts of a story, and revisiting theater terms
Day 4: Creation of tableau based of their stories and sharing with the group
Day 5: Reflection on tableaus/day of flexibility incase tableau take longer to develop or share
(There is also the option to work on a specific piece instead of students creating their own. Pieces done in the past include modified versions of Hamlet and Macbeth.)
