This is a one hour, high-energy, participatory performance. It's all about how we are all connected, how we are all 21st century global citizens, and how the great diversity of our music is a celebration of the great diversity of our human family. Tony typically invites audience members on stage to participate, and includes the audience with call and response rhythms. This concert program was created in response to the continued request of faculty and students who had experienced Tony's workshops... and wanted to see him in performance.
Tony Vacca is an internationally renowned percussionist and composer. His concert performances are visually stunning and musically simply astounding. The program will introduce the students to Tony's world of melodic percussion, using instruments that include the balafon (a large West African marimba) along with gongs, djembes, mbira (thumb piano) the tama/talking drum and his one-of-a-kind percussion/drum set.
