Tony Vacca is an internationally renowned percussionist and composer whose live performances are visually stunning and musically simply astounding. Using giant West African balafons, a wide variety of hand drums, a hunter’s harp, twenty tuned gongs, an mbira (thumb piano) and an outrageous percussion drum set, Tony Vacca has created a unique blend of tradition and innovation that has come to be the signature of his work.

All this is part of the reason he has performed and /or recorded with: Pop icon Sting, Jazz and World Music legends Don Cherry, Yusef Lateef and Avery Sharpe; world renowned African vocalists Baaba Maal and Tsidii Le Loka; Senegalese Hip Hop stars Bideew Bou Bess and Gokh-bi System, and with talking drum master Massamba Diop, whose drumming is all over the original soundtracks for both Academy Award-winning “Black Panther” movies.

His music has taken him to festivals and to schools throughout America, as well as to Africa and Europe. This and more is on display in his World Rhythms Concert program for schools. There will be plenty of participation by students and faculty, and a brief time for questions.

Typical performances last about an hour, but these programs can be customized to fit your vision. Note that there is a two hour set up time required.

This one hour in-school concert is best presented in your auditorium. The sound is best there, and the lighting adds the feel of a concert setting.

There's a two hour load in and set up time required. Packing up takes more like 90 minutes.

If you need to do two concerts in the same day, let me know. There will be an additional cost, but it all depends on the details.

School will provide a clean performance space approximately 20' by 30" with access to electricity.

If you're considering doing workshops and a concert in the same day, that will take some planning and a discussion. Tony's assembly MUST be in the same location as any workshop programs.

Please allow a 2 hour set up time and at least a 1.5 hours for take down.
