Over the course of four weeks, students participate in a series of activities, including active group discussions, close observation and writing exercises in the classroom and art room, a docent-facilitated lesson at the school, a docent-guided visit at the museum, and a hands-on activity in the art room. Built-in writing assessments will begin and end the program as a way for teachers to measure student growth. At the conclusion of the program, schools will have a ready-made exhibition of artworks and writing assignments. Program Structure The program consists of six components: Week 1: Introductory classroom lesson (taught by classroom teacher) Art room lesson (taught by art teacher) Week 2: Docent classroom visit (taught by museum docents) Week 3: Museum visit (taught by museum docents) Week 4: Art-making activity (taught by art teacher) Closing classroom lesson (taught by classroom teacher)

Each lesson, including the docent classroom visit and museum visit, lasts 1 hour. ***It is a requirement that all participating 4th grade teachers and art teacher meet with Wadsworth staff in-person to receive program materials and review program goals in advance of classroom lessons, docent tour, or museum visit. Museum staff will visit the school for this purpose.

Student workbooks with worksheets and a word bank; teacher manuals with lesson plans and supplementary materials; two large-scale reproduction posters of landscapes in the museum, USB of program images. All materials ay be kept by teachers upon completion of the program.

Teachers will receive a Teacher Discovery Pass, a one-time free pass to explore the museum to prepare for their students" upcoming tour and plan curricular connections.

Free busing is offered to all participants.
