This program can be setup in the gym where we can have a group of 40 sit together as a group. 1. Children will learn how to greet by joining palms and saying "˜Namaste" 2. A six minute powerpoint presentation will cover history, origin and evolution of arts with a special focus on genres of music. Children see pictures of classical, folk and bollywood music(popular culture). Significance, context, languages, instruments of each form are discussed. Instrument segment: 3. An instrument that is used to create rhythmic phrases is demonstrated and passed around to try their hand. 4. A "˜shruthi box" which is an electronic instrument that keeps the base notes of the scale is shown. Vocal exercises segment 5. A group of vocal exercises are taught by changing from one scale to the other. The 7 musical notes are discussed by comparing them to the western scale. Each note is sung by the children. Song Segment 6. The structure of a classical song is explained where musical notes and lyrics in different languages are introduced. The themes and language of the lyrics are introduced. 7. The children then learn a song 8. Quiz round : Questions are asked on the content shared, and a reward is given for right answers! 9. Q & A: Session ends with a question and answer session /quiz with rewards!

The workshop will require a projector . The program can be setup in the Gym with a projector. The artist will bring an HP laptop. A HDMI cable will be needed to plug the laptop to the projector In the absence of a projector we could bring printouts to help students follow the musical notes.
