K La Rue’s Kids Music in Motion is a joyful, movement-based program that blends music, dance, storytelling, and creative play to spark imagination and support early learning. Each residency is customized in collaboration with classroom teachers to align with the topic of study and meet the needs of individual students and the class as a whole.
Program Design:
Based on the teacher’s topic of study and classroom profiles, K La Rue Educational Arts in Motion LLC will work with educators to design an engaging learning experience using one or more of the following approaches:
• Songs
• Storytelling and folktales
• Dance-a-Stories
• Imaginative play
• Theatrical expression
• Call-and-response
• Rhyme and rhythm
• Large and small muscle movement
• Dance
• Eight locomotive steps (jumping, skipping, leaping, etc.)
This interactive program builds listening skills, rhythm, coordination, and self-expression—while connecting music and movement to academic themes in a fun, memorable way.

Example: In cooperating elements of singing through call and response, exploring imaginative play through a dance-a-story and utilizing the 8 locomotive steps to move in place and around in space.

Students will recognize and produce rhyming words, count and pronounce in spoken words, participate in collaborative conversations with the artist and diverse partners within the circle.

Through these opportunities to share in singing songs, which will transition into words, students will be able to speak audibly and express thoughts, feelings and ideas clearly.

Dance-A-Stories will provide the opportunity for students to explore imaginative play, based on the teacher selected topic, students will reenact a character or an event through movement, which enables them to explore spatial concepts, movement in straight and curved pathways; while moving to a musical beat and responding to changes in tempo.

Most important for us to meet prior to program beginning. We will meet with the teacher to discuss and detail the expectation and topic for the classroom programming. There has to be an open space, auditorium, gym for each grade level performance visit.
For physical education classes it would be helpful to have rubber spots for each student and (Bluetooth speaker BUT this is OPTIONAL).
