cultural roots, graceful postures inspired by animals and nature, and the benefits of nonresistance, controlled breathing, fluidity, and balance. Students explore movement as both an art form and a mindfulness practice.
Day One:
• Explore animals and elements of nature that inspire Tai Chi movements
• Learn foundational breathing techniques
• Practice five Tai Chi postures with guidance and cues
• Volunteer leaders share their favorite posture with the group
• Close with guided meditation, stretches, and a formal Tai Chi closing ritual
Day Two:
• Review and extend learning from Day One
• Flow through Tai Chi postures as a group
• Participate in movement and musical play using call-and-response
• Practice focus, listening, and patience through interactive activities
• Reinforce learning with repetition using song, dance, stories, and theatre
• Record reflections in writing journals with teacher assistance
Five-Day Residency Option:
Culminates in a student-led performance for other classes, showcasing the movements, breathing techniques, and mindfulness skills learned during the week.

Based on teachers selected input on the type of learning experience K La Rue Educational Arts in Motion will provide through one or more of the following ways: Songs, Dance-a “ Stories, Imaginative play, Call and Response, Rhyme and Rhythm, Large and small muscle movement, Dance 8 locomotive steps (jumping, skipping, leaping, etc.), music and painter tape.

Most important for us to meet prior to program beginning. We will meet with the teacher to discuss and detail the expectation and topic for the classroom programming. There has to be an open space, auditorium, gym for each grade level performance visit.

For physical education classes it would be helpful to have rubber spots for each student and (Bluetooth speaker BUT this is OPTIONAL).

If a writing component is requested then journals, writing materials and a partnership between the teacher and artist will be collaboratively discussed and agreed upon for a writing K LA RUE kids in motion curriculum focus.

• Experience the benefits of Tai Chi, including nonresistance, controlled breathing, fluidity, and balance
• Share and teach their peers what they’ve learned, demonstrating an understanding of class structure and flow
