         OPENING SEGMENT 1.Children will learn how to greet by joining palms and saying "˜Namaste"    2. A 6 minute PowerPoint presentation will cover history, origin and evolution of arts. Children see pictures of classical, folk and bollywood dances(popular culture). Themes, costumes and cultural contexts of each form are discussed.   3. An image of "˜Ganesha" the elephant headed god is shown. Alongside the dancer shows symbolic hand gestures to show elephant ears, trunk, the weapons of Ganesha (all of which the children will try to guess by looking at the dancer and correlating it with the image and the parts of an elephant )   4.	A 4 minute performance will showcase a classical dance honoring Ganesha where all these hand gestures will be seen along with rhythmic patterns created with the feet.   FESTIVALS OF INDIA SEGMENT ------------------------------------------  5.	A power point slide show will be shown describing the 3 important festivals and their significance such as use of colors, fireworks, associated legends and community dancing(includes a short video clip).   6. One of the festivals is chosen as a theme to showcase a dance on "˜Krishna" who loves to play pranks by stealing butter.  Visuals with this story are projected where children see how the characters are dressed and what they do in the upcoming dance.   7. Then, the dancer presents a short demonstration of this story with voice over as she uses hand gestures and mimetic movements to become "Krishna" and transforms into another character with a pot of butter on her head.   8.	The 8 min dance piece is performed and ends with a special piece where the dancer creates rhythm on a brass plate.   9.	Right after the dance, the audience are asked to guess or interpret the hand gestures represented in this dance piece and try them out with their hands.   NATURE SEGMENT  10. Nature segment lasts 7 minutes where the dancer uses hand gestures and body to show elements from nature such as trees, water, birds and the audience are asked to try them. There will be parts where the audience is asked to guess which animal it is.   11.CLOSING SEGMENT   Dancer  invites the audience to thank everyone. Palms are joined(in namaste) above the head to thank guardian angels, palms at the forehead to thank teachers, palms at the chest to thank the audience and palms on the ground to thank goddess earth for her patience.     12.	QUESTION AND ANSWER SEGMENT: Children and staff have a chance to ask questions for 10 minutes.   Note: For higher grades some parts of history such as colonial period are mentioned to connect with their school curriculum  Program has no maximum number limit. So different grades can sit together and experience the program in a gym/cafeteria

        1. Ideally a gym or cafeteria space which can accommodate the students and 10 ft * 12 ft dancing space 2. Program has no maximum number limit. So different grades can sit together and experience the program. 3 .Projector screen will be behind the artist . Students will face the projector and artist. 4. Access to audio and projector must be via artist's laptop . This will help artist switch between audio, visuals and dancing. 5. A standing mic and podium  so artist can speak and then perform.

        Students will identify and describe the cultural and historical significance of selected Indian dance forms. Students will participate in and perform basic movements from traditional and folk dances of India. Students will compare and discuss similarities and differences between Indian festival dances and celebrations in their own culture.
