1. Students will be able to play with and identify instrument
2. Students will be able to identify various sounds, movements, colors, counts and rhymes.
3. Students will be able to move and repeat basic choreography patterns to music
1, 2, 3 Dance with Me! uses dance and recorded music from all over the world for nonstop fun for little learners. The workshop promotes cognitive, social-emotional, and motor skill development, as well as explores the artistic cultural and environmental characteristics of varying regions. The entire workshop is interactive from start to finish and is wrapped by both a welcome song and a goodbye song recognizing each student by name. First, students are asked to form a circle with the instructor and attending staff. The circle encourages communal contact between instructor, staff, and students as one, as well as emphasize the connection to traditional cultural practices of artistic expression. Next students and staff participate in nonstop structured instructor lead activities that include: age-appropriate dance choreography (3 songs). Students are dancing following instructor. Call and response songs (3 songs). Students are singing with instructor. Opportunity for creative expression (1 song). Students are encouraged to dance. Before each activity, a brief explanation of the geographic region where the song or dance originated will be discussed and lyrics in other languages will be translated. Geographic regions may include Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, South America, and the Middle East. Each of the activities is brief and easy enough to spark interest in further exploration and celebrates students who have recently come from the various regions. The instructor brings all equipment for the workshop including music and sound system.
