I can point out key details in the children"s book, "Klimt and his Cat" by Berenice Capatti. I can create a composition that includes line, shape, pattern and symbols that will express my personal feelings using gold paper, construction paper, crayon and watercolor. I can write a brief paragraph describing the symbols and pattern I used to express my feelings.
Students will be introduced to the history, culture and techniques used by the artist Gustav Klimt through the children's book, "Klimt and his Cat" by Berenice Capatti. The students will understand how lines, shapes, patterns, and symbols can be used to express personal feelings. Students will create a composition incorporating Klimt's decorative style by incorporating lines, shapes, patterns, and symbols using gold paper, construction paper, crayons, and watercolor. Afterward, they will explain the symbols and patterns they used to convey their emotions, fostering self-awareness and communication.
Volunteers can help hand out materials and assist students during the lesson.
