Connecticut Ballet provides a Curricular Guide for Teachers specific to each 'Share the Magic' offering. The Guide will be made available online on November 1, 2023.

Busing is the responsibility of each attending school. The programs sell out in the Fall of each year so it is important to get your booking in early.

I CAN identify the ways in which the dancers and choreographer collaborate to create a narrative story ballet. I CAN better understand the creative process of expressing emotions and story lines using the human body and gestures from everyday life.

Now in its twelfth season, the 'Share the Magic' performances attended by students in grades two, three, and four follows the same format: a fully-professional ballet performance condensed to 75 minutes with narration by Artistic Director Brett Raphael. This year, Share the Magic will feature the professional company in 'The Nutcracker' in December 2023. The two-act story ballet, 'The Nutcracker,' is the world's most famous and popular ballet. It tells the story of a young girl, Clara, who receives a toy 'Nutcracker' doll from her magical Uncle Drosselmeyer, at a Christmas Eve party in old Vienna. Later, she falls asleep and dreams of a battle between giant Mice and Soldiers and eventually is transported thru the Land of the Snowflakes to the Land of the Sweets where the Sugar Plum Fairy and Her Prince and dancers from many lands entertain her. Connecticut Ballet's production has entertained audiences around Connecticut and New England for over thirty years. Narrated by Artistic Director Brett Raphael, students will 'go backstage' at the ballet as Raphael deconstructs the scenic, costume, and choreographic elements which comprise the ballet (even demonstrating the exciting lighting effects on the giant Xmas tree!). After the show, the principal dancers and the young girl playing the lead role of Clara will answer questions from the audience.
