Materials Arts Provider Provides: Music and speakers, choreography, props, map (as needed)
Materials School Provides: Large space for energetic movement. Electrical outlet and speakers, if possible. Program may also need, copies of Study Guide. Colored Pencil or markers, colored construction paper, projector. This is an overall idea of what may be needed, however Chefi will communicate her specific need prior to workshop.

Program Learning Objective: I CAN break down dance moves to small and large groups of students. I can understand the history of each dance move learn during workshop I can demonstrate the art of dance to be creative and happy I can tell the difference between each dance move and locate its origin from any region in Africa. As a mom and dance instructor, I can connect with all types of students and lead them to have better esteem of themselves. I can confidently express myself through SIMDACA MOOV The goal of SIMDACA MOOV is to motivate and awaken Joy, one step at a time through dance and storytelling.
Program Description: The goal of the class is not only to teach about the beauty of the African culture through its various dance steps and stories, but also to awaken confidence, uniqueness, and creativity in the participants. Chefi is well known to the Hartford community. Chefi will teach you all of the popular Afrobeat dance moves while motivating you. Come experience this lively blend of beats alongside traditional and contemporary movements. This is a blend of African Storytelling and Dance session. Chefi the instructor is a professional dance instructor, choreographer, and storyteller. She is no stranger to the Hartford performance community. Come experience an energetic moment through some popular fun African dance. She caters to all age groups and focuses on building self-esteem either through her dance or storytelling session. Get ready to discover, learn and dance. These are dances you will find around the African continent, however, narrowed to Western and Central African countries. The art of Math and Science in dance and storytelling will be experienced in some sessions while some steps are being taught.
Additional Notes: Wear comfortable clothes like in the gym because there will be a lot of movement. Students should be hydrated before class and after.
Parent Engagement Opportunities: Volunteers are welcome to participate.
