-I can look at art in different ways and collaboratively share my interpretations with my classmates. -I can "read" artworks like stories. -I can identify the key elements of a narrative, including character, setting, and plot. -I can respect the opinions of other students, even if I see things differently.
After enjoying a docent-led tour of the NBMAA"s illustrious permanent collection, students are able to create their own unique collages using reproductions of those works. Students will learn the fundamentals of a narrative (including plot, setting, and character development) and interpret and present these concepts in their own collages, as well as in an inclusive theatrical presentation utilizing these skills and a culmination presentation of student collages. An optional follow-up activity asks students to title their artworks and write an accompanying story.
Chaperones are encouraged to participate during school visits! We require at least one chaperone per 10 students, but more are always appreciated and welcomed!
