I CAN use my artistic and writing skills necessary to produce a narrative in the comics medium.
Creating Comics is a two part program consisting of workshops incorporating art and writing instruction to help students create their own comics and graphic novels.
Session One will serve as an introduction to the medium and proceed into two cartooning exercises, where students will learn to draw heads and faces, and learn to capture body gestures. They will use these lessons to create characters for use in stories in session two.
Session two will cover classic plot structure creation and using comic style scripts to generate compelling stories they will draw later on. Students will learn to translate from script form into rough layout thumb-nails on the comics page. Students will finish their stories and add word balloons for dialogue.
