I will e-mail a simple, one page study guide to my contact who will print and copy it for teachers. Study guides are not necessary to address for the watching of the show but a nice addition to it. I will also provide all the necessary props and an excellent sound system.
A 6ft table. That's it!!
Access to space, stage preferred one hour and a half prior to the show to set up. And as mentioned before, a 6ft table is required.
I can demystify the scientific process. I can explain the art of experimenting and how artist and scientists are alike in that they both experiment and create. I can problem solve and further my critical thinking.
"The Magic Of Science" demystifies the scientific process, enhances critical thinking, nourishes creativity, explains the art of experimenting and describes how artists and scientists are alike in that they both experiment and create. This show is a great foundation for students to understand how to approach problem solving. Within the program there are mini-lessons about photosynthesis, air pressure, famous inventors and inventions. From 20 years of experience writing, designing and performing my own shows and 30 years of performing in front of children, I have created performances that have been able to bridge the age gap. With constant surprises, excellent visuals, my rhyming text and a knack for talking to kids (not at them), I am able to keep the attention of a wide range of middle schoolers.. "The Magic Of Science" lasts 45 minutes. I have had 6th graders sit through it with no problem. The visuals capture their attention. My rhyming and fun persona holds it.
Loading into and out of a show is always a lot of work. Any volunteers that want to meet me when I arrive to help unload is more than appreciated. Any volunteers that want to help me breakdown and load out is appreciated also.

Grade 6

Grade 6: MS. Engineering Design: MS-ETS1-1: Define the criteria and constraints of a design problem with sufficient precision to ensure a successful solution, taking into account relevant scientific principles and potential impacts on people and the natural environment that may limit possible solutions. DCI: The more precisely a design task"s criteria and constraints can be defined, the more likely it is that the designed solution will be successful. Specification of constraints includes consideration of scientific principles and other relevant knowledge that are likely to limit possible solutions.
Grade 6: Theatre: Responding: Anchor Standard 7: Percieve and analyze artistic work. a. Describe and record personal reactions to artistic choices in a drama/theatre work.
