Cleared classroom space for workshop visit. Large and open room to accommodate participating classrooms for cumulating sharing such as Auditorium, library or multi-purpose room.
I can create short dances that use simple choreographic forms and structures (musical, literary, or visual), and that vary the use of dance elements
I can use kinesthetic awareness, control of body, voice, concentration, and focus necessary for effective participation in individual and group settings in dance.
I can interpret the meanings of dances created by peers and others.
The programs are custom designed to enhance and expand the students academic, social and personal growth. The four contact hours begin with discussing the chosen topic and focus generating ideas for text, song and/or movement; then students will then explore ideas as a whole group before breaking into smaller working groups; next they will continue the exploration and collaborative process to refine their work; finally culminating in a sharing within and/or amongst the classes.
All are welcomed to attend the final sharing.

Grade 6

Grade 6: Mathematics: The Number System: Compute fluently with multi-digit numbers and find common factors and multiples. 3. Fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation.
Grade 6: Mathematics: Expression and Equations: Reason about and solve one-variable equations and inequalities. #5: Understand solving an equation or inequality as a process of answering a question: which values from a specified set, if any, make the equation or inequality true? Use substitution to determine whether a given number in a specified set makes an equation or inequality true.
Grade 6 - Dance - Responding - Anchor Standard 7: Perceive and analyze artistic work- a. Describe or demonstrate recurring patterns of movement and their relationships in dance.

Grade 7

Grade 7: Mathematics: The Number System: Apply and extend previous understandings of operations with fractions to add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational numbers. 3. Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving the four operations with rational numbers.1
Grade 7: Geometry: Solve real-life and mathematical problems involving angle measure, area, surface area, and volume. 6. Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, volume and surface area of two- and three-dimensional objects composed of triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, cubes, and right prisms.
Grade 7 - Dance - Creating - Anchor Standard 2: Organize and develop artistic ideas and work. a. Use a variety of choreographic devices and dance structures to develop a dance study with a clear artistic intent. Articulate reasons for movement and structural choices.

Grade 8

Grade 8: Mathematics: Expressions and Equations : Understand the connections between proportional relationships, lines, and linear equations. 5. Graph proportional relationships, interpreting the unit rate as the slope of the graph. Compare two different proportional relationships represented in different ways. For example, compare a distance-time graph to a distance-time equation to determine which of two moving objects has greater speed.
Grade 8: Geometry: Understand congruence and similarity using physical models, trans- parencies, or geometry software. 4. Understand that a two-dimensional figure is similar to another if the second can be obtained from the first by a sequence of rotations, reflections, translations, and dilations; given two similar two- dimensional figures, describe a sequence that exhibits the similarity between them.
Grade 8 - Dance - Performing - Anchor Standard 4: Select, analyze, and interpret artistic work for presentation."ยจ b. Analyze and select metric, kinetic, and breath phrasing and apply appropriately to dance phrases. Perform dance phrases of different lengths that use various timings within the same section. Use different tempi in different body parts at the same time.
