About Giovanni Ciarlo
Giovanni Ciarlo heads the Connecticut based musical group SIRIUS COYOTE, and brings a musical message of environmental stewardship together with the sounds of the various cultures of the Americas and the dance rhythms of the Caribbean in an exciting offer of original, traditional and contemporary world music played on ethnic and modern musical instruments, many of which he makes himself. Giovanni performs in schools, museums, libraries, festivals and public venues in CT and the Northeast throughout the year. He often tours to Mexico during the winter months. He is committed to bringing his music and knowledge of musical instruments and ethnic music to all audiences, facilitating crosscultural understanding and the creative spirit of the individual and the community.. He performs on guitar, kalimbas, drums, berimbau, ocarinas and a variety of other unusual instruments made from natural materials found in nature. His music includes pre-Colombian and modern pieces that focus on the environment, diversity and cultural understanding. Audience participation is encouraged through sing-along, clapping, dancing and music making. Most songs are in Spanish with English introduction and translation.
