Students will be introduced to the history, culture, and techniques employed by the artist Frida Kahlo through the children's book "Frida" by Jonah Winter. The focus will be on understanding how colors and symbols can express personal feelings and narratives, emphasizing social and emotional learning (SEL). As part of the activity, students will create a symbolic portrait using color and symbols to express or symbolize their own emotions. It's important to note that the lesson will be adjusted based on the student's prior knowledge and will be discussed with the teacher before implementation.

This program consists of two sessions, each lasting 45 minutes, for every classroom. A 10-minute setup is required before the first class. Sessions can be scheduled back-to-back with the next classroom, allowing for minimal downtime in between. Session timing can be adjusted to accommodate school schedules.
