Tony Vacca is an internationally renowned percussionist and composer. His in concert performances are visually stunning and musically simply astounding. The program will introduce the students to Tony's world of melodic percussion, using instruments that include the balafon (a large West African marimba) along with gongs, djembes, mbira (thumb piano) the tama/talking drum and his one-of-a-kind percussion/drum set. The concert is all about how we are all connected, how we are all 21st century global citizens, and how the great diversity of our music is a celebration of the great diversity of our human family. This is a one hour, high-energy, participatory performance. Tony typically invites audience members on stage to participate, and includes the audience with call and response rhythms. This concert program was created in response to the continued request of faculty and students who had experienced Tony's workshops... and wanted to see him in performance.

This concert program was created so you could combine several grade levels into one audience. It's a way for young students to experience a concert with their peers and feel that kind of energy in a school setting. Feel free to talk about how we can best do this.
Yes, we can invite a small number of parents to help us load in or load out.
