The length of this opera, including the pre-show talk, is ONE HOUR AND 10 MINUTES. In order to cover to Common Core teachings, we follow the performance with a Q&A session. We suggest allowing at least 85 minutes total in order to include a Q&A session afterward. The Q&A session can be as long or as short as the school's time permits. Please note, if you are under a time constraint, we MUST start on time, meaning everyone must be seated and ready for the show by the scheduled start time. If we start late, the performance will run late. **Please be sure that the performance area is clear before we come in to set up. If the stage is set up for another event, we will not have time to clear it and set up our scenery for the show. If your stage is used for storage or has a permanent setup (such as for a band concert) that cannot be removed, we regret to say we will not be able to do the show because we will not have enough space to set up our scenery. It is made to fill a standard auditorium stage completely. We will need at least 2 1/2 hours to set up our scenery. The set is a lot of large pieces that we have to carry in and assemble, and it's only the 2 of us doing the setup. Please also us allow enough time to pack up the sets after the show (no less than 90 minutes). It takes time to get the scenery off the stage, so the stage will not be available for other use until we get the sets removed. Thank you in advance for your kind understanding.**

A fully staged and costumed opera performance with live piano accompaniment, a pre-opera talk, post-opera chat session, and a disc of integrated learning materials suitable for classroom use both prior to and after the production.
1. School must provide a piano that is in tune (must have a full keyboard of 88 keys; not one of the smaller pianos used for keyboard class) 2. School must provide one working microphone for the talk sessions. 3. School is responsible for the space/set-up requirements listed below. 4.School must allow adequate time for the whole performance including the talk (see "Length of Program). **Please be sure that the performance area is clear before we come in to set up. If the stage is set up for another event, we will not have time to clear it and set up our scenery for the show. "The Three Little Pigs - A Pig Tale" is a charming take on the original story, exploring themes of friendship, conflict, bullying, trust, and working together to solve problems. An exciting, fast-paced show, including elements of dance and audience participation, this show features an original libretto set to music of Offenbach, Sullivan, Verdi and Mozart.

The program begins with a brief talk about opera - what opera is, and how we use music in opera to express ideas and emotions. During the talk, interactive elements of the show will be explained for the children to participate. All of the operas have a central theme which will be discussed during the Q&A session following the opera.

Lollipop Opera brings the excitement of live theater to children, exemplifying the culmination of arts that is opera. Each performance is fully staged, complete with beautiful sets and costumes.

Our goal is to expand the horizons of children through exposure to the arts. Children will see how opera is a true marriage of the arts, incorporating: 1.) gorgeous music, sung by professional singers; 2.) acting, featuring thoughtful characterizations of each persona; and 3.) visual arts, exemplified by our professional scenic design.

Through our question and answer sessions, children can learn how a touring company functions; how we design our sets to be portable, how the sets are constructed and changed, how long it takes to mount a production, and how original works are created.

The opera pre-show talk gives kids a basic understanding of opera and its history, teaching by example, and by comparisons to everyday activities and experiences with which they identify. The talk and the Q&A sessions are tailored to meet the common core criteria of each grade level.

All operas include a pdf booklet of classroom learning materials with activities and worksheets that tie into the selected opera (math pages, vocabulary exercises, coloring, crosswords and more).

This opera has a gentle anti-bullying message and a surprise happy ending for all that celebrates working together. Students should read or have the teacher read to them a version of The Three Little Pigs, so that the students may compare that version to the opera during class time. Students are encouraged to do the "pig puppet" art project included in the learning disc prior to the show; they may then bring the puppets to the show to participate in helping the little pigs escape the wolf during the chase. Please be sure you have allotted enough time for the entire performance, including a Q&A period if you would like to have one following the show. **NOTE: If your auditorium stage is being used for storage, or other activities that require equipment (such as band equipment) to remain on your stage, then we regret to say that will not be able to do our show because there won't be room to set up our scenery. Our scenery truly takes up the whole stage, and there are safety issues if there isn't room.

** Please be sure there is a piano and microphone in the performance area for us, and that the stage is clear for us to set up. Kindly check before we arrive to be sure no one has set up the stage for a different event. If your stage area has other things on it ( e.g., set up for a band concert or other performance) please be so kind as to remove those items prior to our arrival so that we have adequate time to put up the scenery. Otherwise, we will not be able to do the show. We thank you kindly for your understanding.
Volunteers are welcome to attend the performances, and may even be given a chance help out.
