I can make an informed prediction about what will happen in a book before I read.

I can put myself in a character's shoes and imagine how he/she might feel.

I can identify a main theme of the book we explored this week.
The Connections program brings a Hartford Stage teaching artist into the classroom to explore a piece of literature. Connections is a pre-reading residency; throughout the week, the class will explore the characters, plot, themes and suspense points of the chosen piece of literature using theatre techniques such as tableau, pantomime, role-play, dialogue, monologue, text analysis and storytelling - all before reading the book. At the end of the week, each student will receive their own copy of the book to keep and read.
