In this program, students learn how to "read" a work of art through close looking and thoughtful analysis. The rich array of accompanying writing activities are designed to inspire and strengthen student writing skills.
Each grade level unit focuses on one form of writing: Grade 3: Tell Me a Story (narrative) Grade 4: Detail Detectives (descriptive) Grade 5: Compare and Contrast (expository) The program consists of four components per grade-level unit: 1. Introductory classroom lesson (taught by classroom teacher) 2. Art and Writing: Curriculum Extension Tour at the museum (taught by museum docents) 3. Art-making activity (taught by art teacher) 4.
