For the fun and interactive activities we have planned, we may bring along a few basic materials to enhance the experience; however, the primary focus will be on harnessing each participant's unique contributions. In line with our commitment to providing a tailored experience, we will also provide a copy of the book currently being explored in your class or select one from our diverse library!
The wonderful thing about theatre is that it thrives on creativity and imagination and requires no materials from your school to conduct our workshops and create magic!
To ensure our workshops run smoothly and effectively, we recommend an open space where each child has enough room to stand and stretch their arms without bumping into others. However, we understand that classroom environments can vary, and we’re committed to being flexible. Desks and chairs can easily be pushed against the walls to create more space, transforming even the most confined areas into a suitable workshop setting. Whether it's a gymnasium, a classroom, or even an outdoor area, with just a bit of rearrangement, we can turn any setting into a vibrant space for theatre magic!

I CAN utilize voice modulation, body movement, and focused presence to create engaging and memorable characters.
I CAN create characters and participate in storytelling activities, applying techniques learned during the workshop.
I CAN understand the connection between dramatic storytelling and the stories we read, deepening my appreciation for narrative expression.
I CAN listen actively and offer constructive feedback to my classmates in a collaborative environment.
I CAN be an attentive audience member, supporting my peers as they share their performances.
I CAN communicate my thoughts clearly and comfortably, fostering an open dialogue with my teacher and classmates.
Step into the enchanting world of storytelling and self-expression with our "A is for Acting" workshop, designed specifically for students in grades K-5! In this dynamic 45-minute session, educators will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with our teaching artist to tailor the experience around the captivating story or book currently being explored in class or select from our diverse library. This personalized approach ensures that the workshop not only aligns with curriculum goals but also resonates with your students' interests.

Throughout the workshop, students will engage in energizing activities that teach the fundamentals of acting and reinforce the key elements of spoken narrative structure. Led by our enthusiastic teaching artist, participants will dive into creative play through interactive improvisational exercises and team-building games, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration and support. Each activity is crafted to cater to various grade levels, ensuring that everyone, from the youngest learners to the more experienced actors, can thrive.

As the session unfolds, students will not only create their own characters but also gain insights into dramatic storytelling, all while using their voices to perform in a safe and nurturing environment. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with newfound confidence, a deeper understanding of narrative expression, and a memorable connection to the stories that inspire them. Let us help your students shine as they embark on this exciting journey of imagination and creativity—we can’t wait to bring the magic of acting into your classroom!
We are committed to making our workshops inclusive and accommodating for all students. Recognizing that each individual has unique needs, we are more than happy to modify our activities to ensure everyone can participate fully. We encourage caregivers and educators to communicate any specific requirements in advance, as this will help us tailor the experience to suit the diverse backgrounds and abilities of all participants. Together, we can create an environment where every student feels valued and engaged!
We warmly welcome caregivers to be involved in our program, as their support can enhance the experience for everyone involved. We believe that a few supportive caregivers can positively contribute to the environment without detracting from the workshop. Specifically, one or two may be invited to assist students during the craft portion, as well as to help guide appropriate audience behavior. However, it's important to note that their presence is not essential for the workshop to run smoothly. We appreciate any involvement and are excited to cultivate a collaborative atmosphere!
