A curious, professional-quality, Latin-style drums, castanets, and ganzas for every kid and educator to play.
None required.
Seating arranged by school personnel. Minimum of sixty minutes for load- in and setup. Minimum of forty minutes to re-pack and load out. Presentation can be held in an auditorium, cafetorium, or gymnatorium.
I CAN make music with my hands around Latin drums, castanets, and maracas. I CAN play along with on-line videos and with cd recordings. I CAN join in with musicians, singers, and dancers in Latin music activities at school, at home, and in my community.
DRUMS of SALSA is a 100% participatory activity. Kids and educators play joyous salsa music on curious Latin-style drums, castanets, and ganzas. They take away incentive and skills to drum along with Latin songs and dances in school, at home, and in their community. SALSA DRUMMING builds confidence, innovation, self-regulation, compassion, and teamwork.
DRUMS of SALSA is a 100% participatory activity. Kids and educators play joyous salsa music on curious Latin-style drums, castanets, and ganzas. They take away incentive and skills to drum along with Latin songs and dances in school, at home, and in their community. SALSA DRUMMING builds confidence, innovation, self-regulation, compassion, and teamwork.
Professional providers and caregivers are welcome to assist students with developmental or physical challenges. Adaptive instruments and accessories are available with requests in advance.
PTO members or adult caregivers are welcome to attend as "Roadies" to assist with project logistics.

Grade 3

3. Use knowledge of language and its' conventions when writing, listening, speaking, or reading. a. Choose words and phrases for effect; b. Recognize and observe differences between the conventions of spoken and written standard English.
Grade 3: Music: Creating: Anchor Standard 1: Generate and Conceptualize artistic ideas and works. b. Generate musical ideas (such as rhythms, melodies, and simple accompaniment patterns) within related tonalities (such as major and minor) and meters.

Grade 4

Grade 4: Language Standards: Vocabulary Acquisition and Use #6: Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and domain-specific words and phrases, including those that signal precise actions, emotions, or states of being (e.g. quizzed, whined, stammered) and that are basic to a particular topic (e.g. wildlife, conservation, and endangered when discussing animal preservation).
Grade 4: Music: Creating: Anchor Standard 1: Generate and Conceptualize artistic ideas and works. b. Generate musical ideas (such as rhythms, melodies, and simple accompaniment patterns) within related tonalities (such as major and minor) and meters.

Grade 5

Grade 5: Language Standards: Knowledge of Language #3: Use knowledge of language and its' conventions when writing, speaking, reading, or listening. a. Expand, combine, and reduce sentences for meaning, reader / listener interest, and style. b. Compare and contrast the varieties of English (e.g. dialects, registers) used in stories, dramas, or poems.
Grade 5: Music: Creating: Anchor Standard 1: Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work. b. Generate musical ideas (such as rhythms, melodies, and accompaniment patterns) within specific related tonalities, meters, and simple chord changes.
