I CAN demonstrate hula and yoga postures using breath control, concentration, focus, balance, and strength.

I CAN mindfully pay attention to my breath, and imagine my breath filling my lungs, so that I breath slower and deeper- whenever I feel tired or sluggish, when I feel angry or upset - or when I feel nervous, tense or stressed.

I CAN understand that my breath affects my emotions and the way that I think.

I CAN explain that my emotions and the way that I think affects my actions and behavior.

I CAN apply different breathing exercises when I am having problems focusing or concentrating, when I am taking a test, when I am nervous in class or in school, or, when I am having difficulty in expressing myself, or trying to do a physical activity.

I CAN slow down, and think before I act

I CAN be responsible for my actions because I understand that they affect other people and my environment responsible for my actions

I CAN empower myself by choosing positive thinking actions and behavior for better health, to be a better friend, student, and family member.

I CAN handle challenges with a positive attitude.

I CAN communicate my thoughts and feelings in a positive way.
When hula meets yoga, it stimulates curiosity about our world, cultural diversity and the need to live in harmony with all living beings, the elements of nature, and how students can take an active part in making the world a better place. Learning self-awareness, control and regulation empowers students to achieve success in school and into their adult lives.

This program links storytelling with Hawaiian dance, yoga postures, and mindful movement, imparting ancient wisdom from Hawaiian and Hindu philosophies for peaceful living, with the spirit of loving kindness, compassion, inclusivity, respect, and gratitude.

Students are introduced to basic breathing techniques, and yoga postures that help develop coordination, concentration, and balance.

Students learn concepts of the Aloha Spirit, which is loving kindness, caring, compassion, respect, and gratitude. This central theme is woven throughout the program with mindful movements to embody and experience the elements of nature to recognize the value of Earth"s natural resources. They learn different breathing strategies to manage emotions such as stress, anxiety, fear, and anger. Students learn that being mindful of their breath and posture will improve their energy level, focus, concentration and even boost their mood, confidence and self-esteem. They also learn the importance of spinal care and safe alignment principles to apply during sports, dance and other recreational activities.
