I can explore and recognize the work of Faith Ringgold. While reading Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold, I can point out who is telling the story at various points in the text. I can select and apply media, techniques and processes using construction paper and crayon to communicate a personal memory, ideas, feelings, experiences and stories to create my story quilt.
Students will explore and recognize the work of Faith Ringgold, artist and writer. While reading Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold, students will be able to point out who is telling the story at various points in the text. Students will understand, select and apply media, techniques and processes using construction paper and crayon to communicate a personal memory, ideas, feelings, experiences and stories to create their own story quilt.
Caregivers can help hand out materials and assist students in executing their Story Quilt

Grade 1
