I can create a composition that is balanced using overlapping shapes that are both geometric and organic. I can distinguish between geometric and organic shapes. I can point out details in the children"s book, "Drawing with Scissors" , by Jane O"Conner and Jessie Hartland. I can write a 2-3 sentence description that describes the symbol and color that I used to create my personal collage composition. I can create a collage by cutting out shapes to create a balanced composition using construction paper.
Day One Objective: Students will be able to discuss the history and techniques used by the artist, Henri Matisse. Students will understand the difference between geometric +organic shapes. Students will be able to define: symbol and express how symbols can be used to show individuality. Students will be able to point out key points in the children"s book, "Drawing with Scissors" , by Jane O"Conner and Jessie Hartland. Day Two Objective: Students will create a collage using shapes, colors and symbols to express their individuality and mood. Students will be able to explain and demonstrate how their collage contains a variety of shapes and color. Day 3: Objective: Students will create a collage using shapes (geometric + organic), colors and symbols to express their individuality and a mood.
