Program begins with a brief history of bomba dancing and drumming. Students will then be broken into two groups. one group will be learning and practicing drumming techniques while the other group will be learning and dancing Bomba. Then groups will switch. Afterwards, students will be brought back to one large group and will do a big bombasso (final culminating performance which will consist of students dancing and drumming). Skirts and Bucket drums will be provided.

Grade 8

Grade 8 Social Studies GEO 8.2 Analyze the combinations of cultural and environmental characteristics that make places both similar to and different from other places.
Grade 8 Dance Creating DA:Cr1.1.8.a. Implement movement from a variety of stimuli (for example, music, observed dance, literary forms, notation, natural phenomena, personal experience/recall, current news or social events) to develop dance content for an original dance study or dance.
